This policy explains what personal information Myth Free Health collects when you use mythfreehealth.com, why we collect it, and your rights. We collect as little as possible.
Who we are
Myth Free Health (mythfreehealth.com) is run by Dr Nandan Jha in the United Kingdom. He is the “controller” of your personal information under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). You can contact us about privacy at [email protected].
What we collect and why
1. If you subscribe to our updates
- What: your email address and, if you choose to give it, your first name. We also record the date you signed up and confirmed, and whether you open or click our emails.
- Why: to send you emails about new pages and articles.
- Legal basis: your consent. You confirm your subscription by clicking a link in our first email, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
- How long: until you unsubscribe. After that we may keep a record that you unsubscribed so we do not email you again.
2. When you visit the website
- Visitor statistics: we collect basic information about how the website is used, such as which pages are visited, to help us improve it (our legitimate interest).
- Security: our security and network services process your IP address and basic browser information to protect the site from attacks and spam (our legitimate interest).
3. If you email us
We use your email address and message only to reply to you, and delete the conversation when it is no longer needed.
Please do not send us medical details
Myth Free Health is for general health education only. It is not personal medical advice, and we cannot give advice about your own health. Please do not send us personal medical information by email or message. If you are worried about your health, speak to your own doctor or pharmacist, call NHS 111, or in an emergency call 999.
Cookies
Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser. We use cookies and similar technologies only where they are needed for the website to work, for example to keep administrators logged in. Where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent before using any cookies that are not essential, and you can change your choice at any time.
Who we share your information with
We never sell your information. We only share it with the trusted services that help us run the website, such as our website host, our email newsletter service, and our security and network providers. They may only use it to provide their service to us.
Some of these companies may process data outside the UK. When that happens they use legal safeguards approved under UK law, such as standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to correct it, to have it deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. To do any of these, email [email protected]. We will reply within one month.
If you have any concern about how we use your information, please email us first and we will do our best to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
This website is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you are under 13, please ask a parent or carer before subscribing.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add new features or services to the website. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
